Welcome to the Community Service section for the Gamma Pi Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Here, you will find the latest activities and projects the ladies of Gamma Pi Sigma are working on.
Since 1963, Gamma Pi Sigma has been providing greater service to the greater Milwaukee area, with the hope of aiding the city in its development of greater progress individually and collectively for all residents. Gamma Pi Sigma Alumnae chapter is here to lend a helping hand and is eager to develop new partnerships and opportunities to serve.

National Programs & Local Initiatives

Women’s Health and Wellness Initiative
Hattie McDaniel’s Cancer Awareness and Health Program is a national project that is designed to bring awareness to breast cancer and other related women’s health topics through education and preventative health measures. Gamma Pi Sigma facilitates this initiative in the fall with various community partners.
Swim 1922
Swim 1922 is a national partnership between Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated and USA Swim to promote water safety, decrease drowning rates, promote participation in swimming and aid USA Swim in their commitment to diversity and inclusion. Gamma Pi Sigma facilitates this initiative during the summer through local partnerships with community organizations.

Operation Big Bookbag
Operation Big Book Bag is a national project that provides schools and or students with school supplies such as book bags, notebooks, pencils and pens, erasers, rulers, and glue. Gamma Pi Sigma facilitates this initiative during the summer through various community partnerships.
Project CRADLE Care
Project CRADLE Care is one of our essential programs designed to raise awareness of disparate and inequitable maternal and infant health outcomes Black women endure through community outreach, advocacy, education, and implicit bias training. In so doing, we aim to mitigate outcome and life-course disparities in our communities. Through Project CRADLE Care, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and the March of Dimes collaborate to address the issues that adversely affect Black women and their children ranging from chronic physiological stressors and underlying health conditions to structural racism and implicit biases in our healthcare system. GPS creates a team each year.



Youth Symposium
Youth Symposium is a national project designed to bring awareness to issues that negatively impact our youth such a human sex trafficking, drugs, mental health, bullying, abuse, and teen violence. Gamma Pi Sigma facilitates this initiative in the spring through various community partnerships.
Gamma Pi Sigma's Local Projects

Rhock the Vote
Rock the Vote is a national initiative that promotes voter awareness and encourages the use of your constitutional right to vote. This initiative occurs throughout the year in tandem with the election cycles. Gamma Pi Sigma organizes and supports the Engine 22 polling place in Milwaukee.
NPHC - Milwaukee
The NPHC of Milwaukee is a member of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. (NPHC), which is a coalition of the nine (9) largest historically African American Greek-letter fraternities and sororities, currently representing over 1.5 million members internationally. The organization boasts a diverse membership comprised of students, celebrities, corporate, political and community leaders.

Gamma Pi Sigma has been and is currently a member of NPHC Milwaukee.


Black History Quiz Bowl
The Black History Quiz Bowl is an opportunity to promote teamwork, black excellence, and the rich African American history with the young gifted and black youth of Milwaukee through a friendly team competition. Gamma Pi Sigma facilitates this project during the winter.
